Nepal's women's team secured a victory in the ongoing CAVA Beach Volleyball Championship in Bhutan while the men's team faced a disappointing result.
The duo of Kamala Pun and Manisha Chaudhary triumphed in their match against Uzbekistan, securing victory in straight sets 2-0 at the Changlimithang National Stadium in Thimphu on Thursday. They easily won the first set 21-17 and continued their dominance with a 21-15 victory in the second set.
On the men's side, Nepal lost to the Maldives in straight sets. The pair of Man Bahadur Shrestha and Dil Bahadur Sunar were defeated 16-21 in the first set and couldn't recover in the second set, losing 15-21.
The competition features ten teams in the men's category and seven in the women's category. In the men's event, the Maldives, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan are participating alongside hosts Bhutan and Nepal. In the women's event, teams from the Maldives, Uzbekistan, Bhutan, and Nepal are competing.
Two years ago, Shrestha and Sunar won silver medals for Nepal in the men's category, while Kopila Upreti and Kamala Pun secured silver in the women's category at the tournament held in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh.
