Nepal's Anjali Tamang won gold medal in the Victoria State KPNP Open Taekwondo Series held in Australia.
Taekwondo coach Ujjwal Guragain informed that Anjali won gold in the women's 62 kg weight category against Fedor Pak of Australia scoring 12-3 in the final at the Craigburn Sports Stadium in Victoria.
Before that, she got a bye from Nepal's Sandhya Singh in the first round. In the semi-finals, she defeated Australia's Isabelle Pavia 15-5 to reach the final.
Coach Guragain, who is also a former player of the Nepalese Army, said that Anjali had put in a lot of effort for this competition and has given an excellent performance. Anjali had been competing in the 49 kg weight category for a long time.
She also competed in this weight group in the 19th Asian Games held in China. Anjali also won a bout in the Asian Games. However, in the last eight, she was defeated by Thailand's eventual gold medalist Panipak Wangfatankit.
